Name: Kaywinnit Lee Frye - “Kaylee”
Species: Human
Citizenship: Independent Faction (I’m really not sure that’s what you’d call non-Alliance planets c.c)
Age & Date of Birth: (Age 20) - 23th May, 2497
Place of Birth: Kowlonshi (Border Planet)
Last Known Location: Serenity
Inventory: Clothing she was wearing at the time; coveralls, a short sleeved top, work boots. Toolbox, equipped with several tools still compatible with Earth-That-Was machinery.
Assets:
Mechanical Genius - Kaylee was never highly educated but she does have a natural talent when it comes to machinery, so much so that she can simply tell when a part's worn, or something isn’t not working right. She can diagnose the rattle in a engine when it's stumped the best. She delights in tinkering, building and fixing anything with moving parts. Her talents extend from upgrading already existing machinery, to setting up rudimentary indoor plumbing!
Loyalty - Steadfast to a fault, Kaylee loves her crew, the ship and her Captain. She'd do anything, for any of them, and won't hesitate if she needs to step up to defend them. Her crew are close as any blood relative could be to her and she would trust them with her life (even Jayne!)
Emotional - Kaylee can be easily influenced by her emotions: on the upside she has an near innate sense of optimism, kindness and compassion toward others where most would be cynical, and she more or less wears her heart on her sleeve. She’d do anything for those dear to her and she’s always willing to lend an ear or shoulder to cry on.
Liabilities:
Not a fighter - However loyal or keen to do her part she may be, Kaylee was never meant to be a fighter. She has in the past had trouble being a part of the action that require guns and violence. But when she was left no choice on Miranda (and with the right motivation.. ) Kaylee was able to help some in holding ground against the Reavers, though she would not readily be an asset in a firefight and is often more likely to be frozen by fear.
Heart before head - Her nature to see the good in others sees her a little naive in that respect. Nor is Kaylee always the most level-headed girl and when it comes to choosing sense over somewhat more irrational emotional responses. Common sense doesn’t always win out for her; whether it be stubbornness over the wrong thing said, or perhaps her following a little blindly due to love or perhaps misplaced trust.

It's like a dream only she never did fall asleep, at least she'd planned on working an hour longer, that surely couldn't have passed by already. One second Kaylee's got her nose buried in a toolbox, ferreting through it for a very particular wrench, the next she looks up and she's no longer surrounded by the homey, warm rust-red of the engine room or by the soothing hum of Serenity's engine. The battered, decorated tool box is there, but Serenity ain't and there's not much else for her to do but stare in shock, trying to wrap her head around it all. She's seated, there's wide window, scenery rushing by - it's bright, light and as she ventures to take in what's around her Kaylee discovers she's in the finest room she ever did see. "Well this don't make a bit of sense-" she murmurs to herself, as if speaking up will give her a better sense of what's going on, move the dream on - but nothing seems distorted, slow or fuzzy like being in a dream does. As she slowly gets to her feet, other thoughts creep upon her - scarier ones. The room's so grand, neat and proper, what else could it be but Alliance property? The fact it's richer looking than any place she's ever been makes that much clear, they've got to be in the Core. But how? Why, more importantly - weren’t they supposed to be safe now?
Had they been took? Drugged so they couldn't remember? Kaylee suddenly stopped still as such thoughts rolled on through her mind, trying to be smart about her next steps - maybe she ought to stay put? Maybe it's safer if she doesn't go looking for trouble, or causing it for that matter. The most Kaylee easily reasons as she continues to glance about is that she's not a prisoner, she doesn’t seem like a prisoner anyway; this isn't the hold of a ship, her hands are free, there's no one keeping guard that she can see and she's not beat anywhere. So what in all hell's going on? Wanting to find the others comes to her first, as much as she'd like to know where she is. "Capt'n?" she voices uneasily, feeling a mite foolish for trying when there's no answer, for knowing he wasn't in sight. With nothing to lose but figure that tiān xiǎode what’s going on, and why for Kaylee takes to cautiously exploring the room around her, it's like a picture it's so pretty, royal-like and at first she's hesitant to touch anything at all - but there's a piano and she can't help running a hand along the smooth wood surface, the distraction of the ornate room easing up her fears a little but none of her confusion.
[Tiān xiǎode = Only heaven knows]
